Burnsall Village Green

Burnsall Village Green

At the heart of the village is the picturesque Village Green; a perfect spot for a rest; a picnic or to indulge in a Yorkshire Dales Ice Cream. There are two cafes on the green serving a variety of food and drink and an Ice Cream shop.

The River Wharfe runs alongside the village green and is ideal for family fun; the river is ideal for a paddle, use a fishing net to catch tiddlers or to mess about in boats. (Please remember that water can be dangerous and young children should always be supervised).
Games of cricket, badminton, Frisbee catching etc can be enjoyed on the green or just sit on one of the many memorial benches and watch the ducks floating on the river.

The Village Green is maintained by members of the Village Green Committee who are all local volunteers. There is a cost of keeping the Village Green looking so magnificent. One of the committee’s jobs is to raise funds to cover these costs which include insurance, grass cutting and tree preservation. You can help by donating on the village green using the donation boxes; one by the bridge, one by the village display board near the car park and one on the monument outside Wharfe View Tea Rooms.

The Green is the site for Burnsall Sports and Charities Day in August and a Blessing of Animals Service in September. It has also been used in the filming of Calendar Girls and All Creatures Great and Small.

Please note that BBQs are not allowed on Burnsall Village Green and please take any litter home with you.
